01/25/2023
During the American Farm Bureau’s 104th Convention they adopted policies to guide the organization’s work in 2023. With the current Congress drafting the next Farm Bill, it is essential that the AFBF work to ensure farmers and ranchers can continue to meet the growing needs of families in America and around the world.
Some of the policies that they voted to implement include:
• Expand baseline funding
• Develop more flexible disaster relief programs
• Extend protection to more specialty crops
• Increase the transparency of the federal milk pricing system
• Support access to nutrition programs including connecting farms directly with food banks
• Make food more accessible to people living in food deserts
• Work more closely with Mexico on trade disputes around biotech corn
• Formalized their opposition to the 2022 Waters of the United States rule
