Hotel Registrations Now Available for ASAC Annual Conference

The plans for the ASAC Annual Conference in Fresno, CA, November 5-7 continue to be finalized. The conference will be held at the Wyndham Garden Fresno Airport Hotel and a block of rooms with special pricing for the conference has been held for attendees. Reservations can be made at any time. The specific topics and speakers are being confirmed and will be announced very soon.

A note on hotel options…
ASAC negotiates contracts with the host hotel to include extra amenities where possible and clauses to protect our attendees should the hotel oversell the rooms or any other issues that arise with reservations. Rooms reserved outside of the ASAC block do not have official contracts with the conference; therefore, we are unable to help if any issues arise. Also, booking rooms outside of the room block at the conference hotel can negatively impact ASAC’s contract with the hotel, resulting in ASAC incurring additional fees.
Conference attendees should also be aware that scammers are looking for opportunities to profit from conference hotel registrations. Whenever an organization posts a conference, it is possible that unauthorized housing companies (called hotel “poachers”) will contact attendees and exhibitors offering cheaper rates at the conference hotel or at other hotels in close proximity. The practice, also known as room pirating, is a scam that all convention attendees should be aware of in order to avoid passing along personal and financial information.
These scammers use lodging wholesalers such as Priceline or Expedia to find a few available rooms that they can mark up for sale to unsuspecting guests. They may claim to be an ASAC “partner” or “official housing company” and often require the room to be paid in full in advance.
Be aware that reservations within ASAC’s room block can only be made by visiting the link provided or by calling the hotel directly and stating that you are with the ASAC Annual Conference.
If you are ever unsure whether or not something is legitimate, contact ASAC at evp@agconsultants.org or you can contact Wyndham Garden Fresno Airport Hotel directly, before providing your personal information, company information, or any financial information to a hotel provider that contacts you.
