ASAC Annual Conference—From Water to Wine, Don’t Miss These Tours!
09/20/2023
Don't miss out on the opportunity to take in excellent presentations during the ASAC Annual Conference and participate in an exceptional, informative Ag Tour.
From high tech, unmanned spraying systems to state-of-the art environmental recycling to business ‘incubator’ facilities that support water, energy and Ag Tech innovators - all will be part of local touring opportunities for those attending the 2023 ASAC Annual Conference in Fresno, Calif., November 5 – 7. On Tuesday, the tour activities will be topped off with some relaxation time sampling the fruit of the vines at
Toca Madera Winery.
One of the stops Tuesday afternoon will be at family-owned
Caglia Environmental serving Fresno and Madera Counties. The company offers everything from household garbage collection to hazardous waste, construction dumpsters and commercial and industrial waste removal services for diversion FROM landfills. This recycling and transfer station is unlike traditional garbage dumps as it recycles over 70 percent of trash, green/organics and recyclables collected, repurposing it into raw materials for transformation into new products for consumers.
Another stop will be in Kingsburg, the center of California’s agricultural San Joaquin Valley, for a look at unmanned spraying systems for agriculture.
The Global Unmanned Spraying Systems (GUSS) uses a sophisticated combination of GPS, LiDAR, vehicle sensors, and proprietary software to move equipment through orchards without an onboard operator. A single operator can monitor up to eight GUSS sprayers at a time from a pickup truck using a laptop computer.
Attendees will also visit
The Center for Irrigation Technology (CIT) and
The Water, Energy and Technology (WET) Center at the California Water Institute, which serves as an incubator for innovators and entrepreneurs on their path to commercialization through training, coaching and networking. Additionally, WET offers office space for members to collaborate and work on projects, such as conference rooms and individual office spaces. With its connection to the Fresno State Campus Farm, those members can actually test their concepts in real applications.
The ASAC Conference tour day concludes at the Toca Madera Winery amid vine-covered hills. It was founded to share the love of wine-making and fine wine, and offers a unique wine tasting experience while enjoying the natural beauty of the vineyard.
The early registration discount ends October 15. To register for the conference:
