Update: ASAC Conference Presenter Expands Their Offerings
01/30/2024
During the ASAC Annual Conference in Fresno, CA last November, Bluewhite (
www.bluewhite.co) shared their story of developing autonomous vehicles for a variety of agricultural applications. Their products are mostly used in western states where small and very large crop growers have permanent fields of crops. Its robots have covered 50,000 hours of autonomous farming activity across 150,000 acres.
In a recent announcement reported on the techcrunch website (
www.techcrunch.com) Bluewhite has received Series C funding of $39 million to invest further in their R&D and their concept of “robots-as-a-service” where autonomous robots can be retrofitted to any tractor to operate it. They will also use the funding “…to bring more data features into its service stack… and to continue enhancing its autonomous hardware technology.” These additional funds will help it broaden its market into additional areas.
Following the annual conference, a few ASAC members took an additional tour to the Bluewhite facilities and saw first-hand how the technology works effortlessly in large orchards to do a variety of operations. Because the robotic unit is installed on a tractor, it can be programmed to use whatever equipment the tractor is using including mowers, sprayers, seeders, dusters and other implements.
